The importance of an organized Thanksgiving space

Holidays season is here and one of my favorite celebrations is around the corner. The one we sit down to eat with beloved ones and give thanks for all the blessings and beautiful experiences we’ve had during the year. But also feeling grateful for the lessons we’ve endured that helped us to grow.

For that reason, I feel inspired to offer you some suggestions that promotes the importance of organization and how it can contribute to stress-free and remarkable Thanksgiving.

Create a comfortable and heart warming environment: an organized environment allows everyone to feel cozy, with enough room to move around and have nice conversations, reducing the anxiety or over stimulation normally associated with clutter and reduced spaces. Also consider placing blankets and fluffy pillows on chairs and couch, besides setting a shoes free environment.

Optimize kitchen and dining areas for meal preparation: the kitchen is definitively the heart of the home on Thanksgiving. A well organized kitchen makes meal preparation easier and more enjoyable, providing easy access to utensils, ingredients and maybe helpers, to avoid mistakes or delays while having fun cooking for everyone. Keeping the dining area free of unnecessary items is also important to ensure that all dishes and decorations have their place without creating a loaded atmosphere. Light up some candles and use a minimalist dinner deco.

Making post-event cleanup easier: I can’t say enough about how necessary a well-organized and carefully planned space is for s stress free Thanksgiving dinner, but when talking about the post-event cleanup this is even more relevant and makes everything much simpler for sure. It is not only about designating places for every item and reducing clutter but also building a team of volunteers to help loading the dishwasher, taking the trash out and cleaning the tables or tops. This way, the space is cleaned up and reorganized faster and easier, avoiding a feeling of overwhelm or too much work after the celebration, plus it could be fun with some music on too.

Planning dessert preferences and food intolerance: although it does not necessarily relate with organization, in a certain way it does since I believe that considering the guest’s eating needs would be a nice personal touch to think about for a successful dinner. When planing the difference dishes and dessert options, ask your friends and relatives if anyone has a particular food intolerance or allergies, and then ask for volunteers to bring their favorite homemade dessert. A good and fresh pecan/apple pie o carrot cake never fail. Planning on this group meal collaboration can be wonderful and supportive.

With all this being said, I really hope you and your guests have an unforgettable Thanksgiving experience and that all these tips can help you to make it enjoyable during the whole process, before and after. Remembering the importance of an organized space leads you to an stress-free gratitude celebration.
